The Flasher
THE POLITE FLASHER Sorry, this is another one non-Brits may not get. I hope you enjoy it anyway. One winter evening after dark I saw a flasher in the park He didn’t wear a dirty mac In fact, he wore an anorak. Despite his better tailored gear Things did get odd as he drew near He slunk along from tree to tree – Perhaps he thought I couldn’t see ‘Till with a great guffawing laugh He leapt right out onto the path A manic grin he grinned at me Of unadulterated glee As anorak he opened wide To show me what he had inside But in the cold it seemed so small It almost wasn’t there at all I did the little finger mime Said I’d seen bigger in my time Told him the gods had sold him short And yet he made no terse retort But bade me a polite “good night”, As anorak he zipped up tight, And flashing finished for the day Furtively, he slunk away.
